This is a massage technique applied to individual muscles to increase blood flow to specific areas and to release trigger points—intense knots of muscle tension that refer pain to other parts of the body. It shares similarities with trigger-point massage and myotherapy. A more recently introduced therapy, neuro-emotional technique (NET), seeks to restore imbalances through the removal of biochemical and bioelectrical charges stored in the brain and manifested as illness in the body. Four weekend workshops plus a test weekend are required for certification in neuro-muscular therapy.
