Color therapy uses the spectrum of colors associated with the body’s aura to treat diseases of the body and the mind. An ancient practice from Egypt, Iran, India and China, color therapy is based on research that shows that we perceive color not only through our eyes, but also through the skin, in dreams and meditation. In colorpuncture, vibrations from different colored lights are applied to acupuncture points for a healing effect. It is used to treat a variety of emotional and physical conditions including arthritis, asthma, blood pressure, circulatory disorders, depression, eczema, insomnia, migraine, rheumatic pain, stress and tension. Color therapy is generally self-taught, and practitioners of other therapies, such as reflexology, often incorporate aspects of color therapy into their work.
