Most folks know Daryl Hannah as the blonde beauty who has starred in films like Splash and Blade Runner. What most people don't know is that in addition to being a sweetheart of the silver screen, Daryl, is also an environmentalist whose roots run deep. For many years Daryl has lived simply using solar electricity, living in Teepees and utilizing the best green building materials, practicing in the construction of her modest and rustic home. Daryl has been involved in the biodiesel movement for years and can be seen in the award winning film "French Fries to Go" (on Grassolean.com's "Goods" Page). Darryl has educated tens of thousands of people about biodiesel through her appearances on television shows, like Jay Leno and Howard Stern, as well as many magazine interviews.
 Last night at the 14th annual B'Earthday taping of etown, a national weekly radio variety show, Daryl was honored with etown's socially conscience e-chievement award. Nick Forster, etown's host and executive producer bestowed the award to Daryl in front of the thousand people in the audience and to tens of thousands more who will hear the concert and award presentation later in May. The e-chievement award is given to deserving people at each concert which recognizes people around the country who've found positive solutions to challenges in their communities.
"Each winner is nominated by a listener and joins us live, by phone or in person, to tell their personal story on the air", said Nick. This is a very special segment of the show which is laced between great music and conversation.
