Red wine reduces risk of prostate cancer
International Journal of Cancer As published in Nexus - Colorado's Holistic Journal

Drinking red wine can cut the risk of prostate cancer in half, according to a recent study of more than 750 prostate cancer patients; additionally, red wine has the strongest effect against the most aggressive types of the cancer. In the study, researchers found that men who drank four or more glasses of red wine a week lowered their risk of prostate cancer by 50 percent, and reduced the risk of the more aggressive forms by 60 percent. Resveratrol, an antioxidant compound found in the skin of red grapes, is thought to be responsible for the protective effects of red wine; resveratrol is also found in raspberries, mulberries and redskin peanuts. White wine had no effect on prostate cancer risk, nor did beer or liquor.
