Pioneered in the 1960s, biofeedback allows the patient to monitor and improve their level of relaxation by observing a machine that keeps track of heart rate, body temperature, muscle tension, skin conductivity and brainwaves. The ultimate goal is to self-induce relaxation and to recognize the body’s distress signals.
