Cupping is a traditional healing technique of Chinese and Ayurvedic Medicine that uses glass jars placed over acupoints to create a vacuum thereby increasing circulation and detoxification. More common in Europe than North America, it was known to Hippocrates and described in writing as the "horn method" by Ko Hung in the first century A.D. It is helpful for fast relief from muscle spasms, back pain, sciatica and arthritic and rheumatism problems. Believed to free toxins by releasing a histamine-like substance in the skin which stimulates the immune system.
